Meet Teresa Demarie
Before moving to Oregon, Teresa lived in the Greater Los Angeles area. Over the last 20+ years, she’s been a Career and Executive Coach and worked internationally and domestically as an Organizational Development Consultant.
She inspires her clients to discover their innate gifts. They can do work that they love, make the money they deserve, and feed their soul and wallet.
Career Coaching—How She Got Her Start
During her last stint as an employee, Teresa was laid off and went through outplacement. She subsequently discovered that she had a knack for helping people find jobs and manage their careers once they landed. So she became a Career and Executive Coach after receiving hands-on training with some of the top outplacement firms in California. Consulting with everyone from Senior Executives to Directors and Managers, she inspires her clients to look at layoffs as opportunities to reinvent themselves and find work that brings them joy
Career Coaching—Where Her Passion for Inspiring Others Shines
Her most unforgettable client was a senior-level manager. Teresa encouraged her to go after the career of her dreams instead of settling for the first offer she received. In the process, Teresa had to help her client sort through old feelings of inadequacy. The client also had to be willing to ask difficult questions and to turn down unacceptable offers.
Finally, after the fourth offer she received, Teresa’s client negotiated a 30% pay increase along with lucrative stock options. The client not only landed her dream job, but she also finally received the compensation she deserved. This once unbelievable result she attributed to Teresa’s inspired coaching.
Teresa’s Work as an International Consultant
A few years ago, VisionFund, the microfinance arm of World Vision, hired Teresa to build their training department from the ground up. She designed the programs with the help of local experts. Consequently, VisionFund went from ad hoc PowerPoint, lecture-driven presentations, to professional training, based on adult learning.
The next challenge was delivering the programs to 7,000 employees on five continents in 36 different locations in English, Spanish, and other local languages. She convinced VFI that they needed to do regional Train-the-Trainer programs to stretch their limited resources. That meant she had to take mostly inexperienced, timid lecturers and turn them into self-confident, engaging facilitators. She was quite proud of that feat, considering she was a one-person department!

Fluent in Spanish, Teresa is a Registered Career Consultant and holds an MBA in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Her BA is in Humanities from Loyola Marymount University. She has also taught career development through LMU and is a certified MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Provider.
